Presuppositions

This is the first in a new series of Talks comparing the differences between the way modern, western people think and ancient Hebrew thinking. We will spend time thinking deeply about the importance of story, our comfortability with tension, and the overall methodology of Jewish interpretation of scripture. In this first talk we will tackle the idea of presuppositions.


Presupposition /ˌpriː.sʌp.əˈzɪʃ.ən/ : an implicit assumption about the world or background belief relating to an utterance whose truth is taken for granted in discourse.
