We're going to look at a parable of the wheat and the tares. To give a little context, chapter 13 as a whole is a visual chapter. Jesus talks about the four soils; wheat and weeds; the mustard seed; yeast; a hidden treasure and a pearl of great price; and a fishing net. The parable of the weeds is interesting because this specific week is indistinguishable from wheat only when it's fully grown.

The book of Philippians is a personal, practical & powerful book that emphasizes joy in the christian life. How many of us today can sit here in this church & confidently say no matter what we’re going thru, we’re rejoicing or joyful?! It’s true that we have much to be thankful for but the pace at which we run is so fast, the pressure of which we face is so great, and the pain which we experience is so deep our joy is often stolen. Therefore, we’re led to search for joy or happiness that will last! Usually from possessions, vacations, social connections, etc. But Philippians teaches us true joy only comes through centering our lives around christ, harmony with his faithful followers, and serving others in the name of the lord. We’ll learn how to “rejoice in the lord” despite circumstances / people / problems / suffering!
