The book of Philippians is a book that emphasizes joy in the Christian life. It’s easily seen as the main theme through the book. Paul consistently expresses it himself and instructs his readers to experience it personally.
It’s true we have much to be thankful for, but the pace at which we run is so fast, the pressure of which we face is so great, and the pain which we experience is so deep. Our joy is often stolen. We’re led to search for joy and happiness that will last by way of possessions, vacations, or social connection. Not many of us today can sit here in this church and confidently say, no matter what we’re going thru “We’re rejoicing or joyful!”. But Paul teaches in Philippians how we can find joy through the difficulty.
