Not So With You Mark 10:35-45 1. Everyone has a position on the team. 2. All the positions on the team are important. 3. The greatest position on the team is the lowest position. (picture of Murrell fishing and the pics of Will and Jacob being baptized) A. Serving increases your joy. “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.” Philippians 2:17 “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.” Mark 8:35 B. Serving improves your relationships. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. C. Serving brings significance. 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Let’s Go Mark 13:9-11 Mark 13 9 “But be on your guard. For they will deliver you over to councils, and you will be beaten in synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them. 10 And the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations. 11 And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. 1. Persecution is not the problem, our comfort is. His Calling > Our Comfort 2. The church isn’t a country club, it is a sending agency to the nations. Mark 11 17 And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.” Mark 15:39, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” Waldo – someone who is close to you but far from God. 3. God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. Sacrificial Living > Playing it Safe Mark 13 32 “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. 34 It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. 35 Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— 36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. 37 And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”

Your Priorities Determine Your Appointments Mark 1:35-39 1. Time with God is a daily joy “A Sunday religion, he who has it, will be lost.” - Charles Spurgeon. “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” Psalm 5:3 2. Time with God was a priority. “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.” Luke 6:12 3. Time with God will have interruptions. 4. Time with God prepares you for your mission. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16 “And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.” Mark 2:19-20
