Builders of Christ's Family | 1 Corinthians 8 pt. 2

June 23, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

To build with love, to think of our weaker brother in the faith, not to let our "freedom" become a stumbling block in the lives of others, Paul's message is not the meat itself, but the intention of the heart " puffed up" with knowledge without humility and love for our brothers and sisters.

Builders of Christ's Family | 1 Corinthians 8

June 16, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

At the beginning of this chapter, the Apostle Paul is very emphatic that we should abstain from doing things that will bring down the brethren; Paul's point is to unite the church, to live in peace is to edify the church of Christ, at the time he wrote the letter, the problem was the food offered to idols. Still, in our times, we can apply it to alcohol, parties, tattoos, and participation in cultural celebrations such as "Halloween." We see three reasons why this part of the Scripture was written.  1. To clarify matters with love.  2. To edify the brother in love. 3. Not to sin against a brother who is weak in the faith.

1 Corinthians 7:17-24 - As you were called, remain

June 9, 2024 • Ps. Henry Cruz

How should a Christian act now that they are saved? The church of Corinth has answered this question incorrectly time and time again in this chapter. It is clear that the church of Corinth misunderstood how one is to view sexual intimacy in marriage, singleness, and how a spouse is to act towards an unconverted spouse now that they were born again believers. In this sermon you will learn what Paul's guiding principle is towards all these issues is and you will learn what must one do once they are saved.

Instructions concerning Divorce, Remarriage and the Unbelieving Spouse. | 1 Cor 7:10-16 pt.2

What happens when we come to faith and one of our spouses is not saved? First of all, God does not call us to separate; on the contrary, our faith life is the one that can be a tool of sanctification to our marriage; although the Gospel is the only thing that can bring salvation to the person, and our testimony does not save, it is that same testimony that demonstrates the work of the Holy Spirit in our life.

Instructions concerning Divorce, Remarriage and the Unbelieving Spouse. | 1 Cor 7:10-16

May 26, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

What is the biblical position on divorce? First, God hates divorce since what He joins together must remain together forever. However, He Himself gives us the guidelines for when a couple falls into the sin of adultery, being this is the only reason why divorce is allowed. Although this topic is quite controversial within the church, we must not submit to the culture of the world, be firm in our biblical position, and submit to God.

1 Corinthians 7:6-9, 25-35, The Gift of Singleness part 3

In the event of singleness, is it appropriate to desire marriage? Paul's answer goes beyond a simple yes or no because he, like Jesus, also knows that a person's time of singleness may last a lifetime. Paul affirms that living a Christian life is about serving God; being single or married is not a sin, but a devoted heart is needed.

1 Corinthians 7:6-9, 25-35, The Gift of Singleness part 2

May 12, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

For the Apostle Paul, marriage is not the cause of the problems. Although it is difficult to cope with marriage and can increase pressure in daily life, he sees the unmarried as those who can give themselves entirely to the work of God to spread the Gospel in the short time that in Paul's eschatology, he was concerned about the soon return of Christ.

1 Corinthians 7:6-9 | The Gift of Singleness

May 5, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

Paul does not view singleness negatively, even though in our culture one might find being single a burden to bear; he considers singleness a gift from God with great value, as it allows one to devote one's entire lifestyle to God's work.

1 Corinthians 7:5c | The Downfall of Hyper-Spirituality

April 21, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

Any sin that is repressed will eventually explode; the solution is not repression but to correct the root; intimacy is not a limit to spirituality within marriage, like the Nazarite vow that we see in the Old Testament with the symbolism of spirituality; it was not the long hair as the primary object to show devotion to God, before Him the outward appearance is not important, but the attitude of the heart, our weakness can break our self-control, we must approach God with a humble heart.

1 Corinthians 7:1-7 | Abstinence in marriage? Pt. 2 | Ps. Jonathan Gallardo.

1 Corinthians 7:1-7 | Abstinence in marriage? | Ps. Jonathan Gallardo.

April 7, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

The Apostle Paul in his letter is not establishing a teaching on sexual intimacy in marriage, but on the contrary, he explains that intimacy is part of married life; he tells us that abstinence within marriage is very dangerous because just as marriage is linked to sexual intimacy, so is singleness linked to celibacy because marriage and singleness are two special gifts given by God.

1 Corinthians 6:12-20, "Flee from Sexual Immorality"

March 24, 2024 • Ps. Henry Cruz

The Apostle Paul shows us three points about the sin of fornication. To understand, we need to know what the heart of the fornicator is like, what fornication is, and the solution to this sin; since being slaves to sexual immorality leads us to perdition, we need to avoid sinning against our body, adultery is a serious affront against God, and fornication not only applies to married people, but also to those who are in a "relationship" without being in the marriage covenant; Let us remember that the main goal of the Christian is to glorify God with his life, and not to satisfy our body with sexual immorality.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 | And such were some of you pt. 2

March 17, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

God, in His word, shows us what kind of people His kingdom is not open to; we see the world's behavior and that the unregenerate human being is willing to practice and enjoy those sins. As believers, we are confronted with the reality that just as we see in the letter to the Corinthians, we too were like that, disqualified people, enemies of God, but now, by His grace, we have been "Washed, Sanctified and Justified" in the name above every name, Jesus Christ and not by our works.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 | And such were some of you | Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

March 10, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

Culture diverts us from the kingdom of God. The letter of the Apostle Paul gives us three guidelines about the kingdom of God: What is the kingdom of God, For whom is it not the kingdom of God, and For whom is it the kingdom of God; since the lifestyle of the child of God should not be of impurity, since our eyes should be set on heaven and not on the world.

1 Corinthians 6:1-8 | Family Matters

March 3, 2024 • Ps. Jonathan Gallardo

The issue of discipline is still the line that the Apostle Paul shows us in these verses since the quarreling, anger and sexual immorality of the church in Corinth was being ignored, and now the legal disputes among the brethren had become "the daily bread." And that stain on the church was getting bigger and bigger; they had rejected the wisdom of God to deal with these matters, the world's culture had supremacy in their minds, and the Word of God was not taken into account.
