The gladness of heart is not tied to the things that sometimes steal our joy. It is tied to the deeper understanding of relationship with Jesus Christ and other believers.

The Bible is our life manual. No understanding of it, partial understanding of it or a misguided understanding of it can be detrimental to our quality of life. But if we intentionally set out to understand the scriptures, life can be set upon a path that is both beautiful and fulfilling. There is no other book that carries the weight, authority and impact of the Judeo-Christian scriptures. Without the Bible we are left to develop our own misguided personal philosophy of life that simply anesthetizes our slow death.
