Goliath Must Fall

Week 1

April 28, 2019 • Gregg Parris

I Samuel 17:1-16, 41-50

I. Identify your giant(s).

II. Not bigger than the name of Jesus.

All the changes God wants in our lives is more about trusting and less about trying.

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:3

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

Addiction Must Fall

June 9, 2019 • Gregg Parris

I Samuel 17:33-39, 45-46 An addiction is anything we can’t live without. I. Find your God. II. Find your purpose. III. Find your friends. To keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. II Corinthians 12:7-10 Everyone who has ever done something great for God had some sort of weakness. I Samuel 17:45-46

Anger Must Fall

June 2, 2019 • Gregg Parris

I Samuel 17:28 I. Remind ourselves we aren’t perfect. You, Lord, showed favor to your land; You restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people And covered all their sins. [Selah.] You set aside all your wrath And turned from your fierce anger. Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, Lord, And grant us your salvation. Psalm 85:1-7 II. Remind ourselves that God has made peace with us. III. Believe God is our avenger. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Romans 12:14,17 He will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten. Joel 2:25 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18 IV. We forgive. Therefore, each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Ephesians 4:25-26 V. Remind ourselves we are sons and daughters of God.
