Spiraling

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares about you.”

1 Peter 5:7

We begin to spiral when:

A. We feel alone.

“When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

Matthew 11:2-3

B. We don’t have all the info.

“… heard about the deeds of the Messiah ….”

C. It seems like God is late.

“… should we expect someone else?”

Matthew 11:3b

Holding on in uncertainty:

A. Look outside your situation and reflect.

“At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So he replied to the messengers, ‘Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard’ … “

Luke 7:21-22

B. Hold on to Jesus’ Word.

As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? … Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Matthew 11:7, 11

Action Step: I commit to follow Jesus for the first time today.
