Our Statement of Faith

God The Father

We believe in God the Father almighty who is the creator of Heaven and Earth.

Apostles Creed Article 1 Genesis 1:1

God The Son

We believe in Jesus Christ who is God’s only son who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead. He ascended to the right hand of the Father where he makes intercession for us. In Christ, and Christ alone, is Salvation for all men who believe.

Apostles Creed Article 2

God The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, that was poured out on the day of Pentecost. He is a person and is the Spirit of God the Father on the Earth to empower the church to testify of God’s son Jesus Christ. HE empowers believers to fulfill the great commission and gives his gifts to men the furthering of His kingdom and agenda on the earth. Apart from the Holy Spirit we have no power or authority.

Holy Trinity

We believe that God is a triune being- The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit

Jude 20, 2 Corinthians 13:14

Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and only Word of God and it is the ultimate authority in our lives.

Sin and the Fall of Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God but because of their willful disobedience in the garden, all mankind has inherited a sin nature and all need to be restored to God through repentance, forgiveness, and salvation through Christ alone.

The Augsburg Confession Article II

The Body of Christ

We believe that all who have accepted the free gift of Salvation are a part of the Body of Christ and must continually gather together to worship, serve, fellowship, grow and maintain identity in Christ

The Sacraments

1) Holy Communion: We believe it is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ under the bread and wine, instituted by Christ himself or us to eat and drink in reverent fellowship. We follow the institution instructions in 1 Corinthians 11:24-28.

The Augsburg Confession Article X .1

2) Holy Baptism: We believe baptism is a gift of God’s grace and not a work. It is the Word of God and the Water that completes Holy Baptism. We celebrate baptism at any age be it by sprinkling or full submersion it is the Spoken Word that completes baptismal Grace.

We will not however perform Full Submersion baptism for infants.

The Augsburg Confession Article IX .1 and .2,

The Great Commission

We are called to leave the four walls of the church and continue Jesus’ ministry he entrusted to us at His ascension. We are led and empowered by the Holy Spirit to preach the Good News of Salvation through Christ alone and to speak into cultural issues through the Wisdom of the Holy Spirit to be Salt and Light in our world. Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20

Sexuality and Gender

"We affirm that God created us male and female, and that it is God's will and intention that human sexual expression and fulfillment take place only within the boundaries of marriage between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24-25; Matthew 19:4-6; and Mark 10:2-9). We believe that there are two genders, male and female as designed by God himself in the Garden. Anything else is a plot from Satan to steal, kill and destroy.

Sanctity of Life

We believe that Life begins at conception and ends at the last breath. Mankind was created in the image of God and abortion at any stage of pregnancy is murder and an abomination to God.

Politics and Civil Government

We believe that God is our highest authority, and that Holy Scriptures is our guide and declaration. We believe we are called to live quiet and peaceable lives and cooperate and support government if it falls under the commands of scripture. We have a righteous and civic duty to speak up against legislation, laws, and policies that exalt themselves above God’s authority and are destructive to the spiritual health of the members of our churches and community. We will never be led by any political figures and only by the Holy Spirit but will support legislation and public servants that work to uphold healthy and righteous systems in all areas of governmental influence.

End Times

We believe in the imminent and certain promised return of Jesus Christ both literal and physical to establish His kingdom on Earth.

Book of Concord Article XVII,

We accept the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds as true declarations of the scriptural faith we believe, teach, and confess.

We believe, teach, and accept the Unaltered Augsburg Confession and the Small Catechism as true witnesses to the Word of God, normative for our teaching and practice. We acknowledge that we are one in faith and doctrine with all churches that likewise accept the teachings of the Unaltered Augsburg Confession.

We believe, teach, and confess the other confessional writings in the Book of Concord namely, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, the Treatise, the Large Catechism, and the Formula of Concord, as further valid expositions of the Holy Scriptures.

We believe, teach, and confess the gospel, recorded in the Holy Scriptures and confessed in the ecumenical creeds and Lutheran confessional writings, as the power of God to create and sustain the priesthood of all believers for God's mission in the world.

Living Word Lutheran Church

Living Word Kids and Youth Statement on Gender

Living Word Kids and Youth Ministries hold to the Biblical definition and design for Gender. We believe that God’s Word is clear about gender and sexuality. God designed man and woman in the garden and continued to use them to bring his plan and purpose for humanity through these two genders. To add any separate distinctions outside of scripture to either of the two genders would be adding to God’s design and His Word. Living Word will not partner with any ideology or behavior that promotes or condones any transgender language or gender fluid doctrines. While all children are welcomed and loved in Living Word Kids, for our church and staff to partner with any of these progressive gender movements would be sin according to scripture and we are called to live above reproach.

Furthermore, we will not condone or promote any homosexual or bisexual relationships in our youth ministries. God’s design for relationships is very clear in scripture. Same sex relationships were designed by God to be a brotherhood and sisterhood relationships for strengthening the individual in the Lord, accountability, and healthy friendship. Any romantic relationships between same-sex and gender are forbidden by God and destructive to those individuals. Our heart is to cultivate healthy, godly relationships and friendships within the Living Word Community and to partner with homosexuality or the Pride movement would be to sin against God, and we are called to live above reproach.

Our heart is that all would come to the gift of grace offered through salvation and faith in God’s son Jesus Christ. Living Word Lutheran Church holds to the true standard of scripture without compromise. All are welcome to come as they are, but we love people far too much to offer them anything outside of the full council of scripture, especially when it comes to children and young people. We are unwavering in our dedication to the teaching of scripture and unrelenting in our love for people.
