1. Peter reminds believers that they are “chosen exiles” and part of God’s plan. How does knowing that your identity is rooted in God’s choice rather than your circumstances change the way you face challenges or feelings of being out of place?

2. Peter calls our hope “living” and points to God’s power as the reason it is secure. Can you share a time when you experienced God guarding your hope through a difficult trial? How did that change your perspective on your circumstances?

3. Peter compares trials to gold refined by fire. How do you see God using difficult circumstances to strengthen your faith or character? How can you intentionally cooperate with God during these refining times?
