Woah! This is it! This is the big moment when God and the Israelites finally enter into a covenant with each other. What's a covenant you ask? Think of it as a solemn promise... almost like a marriage. It's when two parties, in this case God and Israel, make promises to each other. God promised to be Israel's God and Israel promised to be His people! And in order to help the Israelites keep their promise, God gave them the Ten Commandments. These commandments are meant to show us ways we can live that will help us stay connected with God. Remember though, our sins are not forgiven by following these commandments. Only faith in Jesus does that! But we as sinful people cannot keep all the commandments all the time! That's why we need Jesus! Check it out!
