God Can

A 10-Week Study of Nehemiah

Finish What He Started

November 20, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 12:44–47, Nehemiah 13

This week we wrap up our journey with Nehemiah. Last week we saw how he and the people renewed their covenant with God and celebrated the accomplishment of their great work with exuberant joy! But in the final chapter of Nehemiah we learn that they didn’t follow through with their commitments. What will Nehemiah do? What will God do in response? More importantly, what do we do when we make significant progress but there is still so much left undone. Join us on Sunday as we find hope even in midst of our failures and limitations.

Give us Joy

November 13, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 10:30–39, Nehemiah 12:27–43

We are excited to celebrate baptisms on Sunday! Just as Nehemiah led the people to take vows to love and serve God, we will share in our baptismal vows. Just as Nehemiah’s people celebrated with joy, we will celebrate with joy at all God has done! Do you earnestly repent of your sin? Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord? Have you made a recent commitment to Jesus? If you feel God leading you to be baptized or remember your baptism, there’s still time to contact Pastor Andy and be part of the celebration. Either way, join us for an unforgettable Sunday!

Change Our Hearts

November 6, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 8, Nehemiah 9

When is the last time God moved you to tears? Where we pick up with Nehemiah and his people, they are now finished with the great rebuild of the wall, but God is still rebuilding them. And as God rebuilds them through the reading of His Word, the people are moved to tears. Maybe that’s happened to you during times of worship. Why does standing before God oftentimes bring tears? We will discover some of the possibilities this Sunday and more importantly learn which kinds of tears lead to a true change of heart.

Keep Us Focused

October 30, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 6—7

Nehemiah and the people were more than halfway finished with their mission to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Will they stay focused and complete the task before them? Whenever God has given his people a mission, one of the biggest challenges is to stay focused on what it’s all about in the first place. In Nehemiah we will find that he remains focused to a point, but will he forget what it’s all about? Join us on Sunday as we continue our journey with Nehemiah and discover what matters most to God!

Rebuild Our Community

October 23, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 5

Nehemiah has led the Israelites in a great rebuilding project. As of chapter 4, the people were halfway to their goal of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem! But this week we will learn that God had so much more in mind for his people than simply rebuilding a wall - he wanted to rebuild their community! How might God want to rebuild us? Join us on Sunday as we are reminded that it matters how we treat one another within the family of God.

Make a Difference Through Us

October 9, 2022 • Tim Price • Nehemiah 3

In this message, we take a look at the detailed description of how the wall was rebuilt in Nehemiah chapter three and discover how God can accomplish much through His people.

Bring Us Together

October 2, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 2:9–20

Are you enjoying our walk alongside Nehemiah and the call of God on his life? So far, he’s been heartbroken over the state of his fellow Israelites in Jerusalem, he’s spent months in prayer and fasting to God, and he’s gotten the courage to do something about it. God gave him favor with the king, and he’s about to travel to Jerusalem with a vision and hope. This week, we will discover how God Can use difficult circumstances to bring his people together. But to see that kind of outcome, we must do our part. In this message, discover how Nehemiah and the Israelites did their part and how that can encourage us for the difficult circumstances God’s people face today.

Do the Impossible

September 25, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 1:11—2:8

We continue our journey through the story of Nehemiah! Last week we saw Nehemiah’s heartbreak over the state of his people and his homeland. And in his sorrow he turned to God in humble prayer and fasting, acknowledging God’s power, confessing his sin and the sin of his people, trusting in the promises of God’s Word, and asking for God’s favor as he prepared to take action. Join us this Sunday to see how Nehemiah took bold action at great risk to himself, but more importantly to discover how when we act in faith that is rooted and bathed in prayer, God can do the impossible in us and through us! Where we can’t, God Can!

Use Our Broken Hearts

September 18, 2022 • Andy Adams • Nehemiah 1

There are many reasons you could be discouraged by the state of our world today. Between divisive politics, escalating inflation, worker shortages, racial tensions, foreign wars, and environmental turmoil, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed with grief and sadness. Add that to a cultural movement away from God, and your heart for our world may be close to shattering. What is the best way to respond in such circumstances? Is there any way to make a difference? Can anything be done? In this message, we begin our 10-week study of the book of Nehemiah. When it seems like all hope is lost and we can’t do anything about it, GOD CAN!
