But the truth is, doubts creep into the hearts of the skeptical and devoted alike.

Why do Bad Things Happen to Good People?

Join us at Troy Methodist Church this Sunday as we celebrate Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit descended on the first believers giving birth to the church! We will briefly reflect on our theological understanding of the age old question, Why do bad things happen to good people, but more importantly we will spend extra time in prayer and worship as we call upon God’s Holy Spirit to meet us in our brokenness and pains from this world. Why does God Sanction Killing in the Old Testament?

One of the most common objections to faith in the God of the Bible is God’s sanctioned killing of the inhabitants of Canaan known as the conquest of the Promised Land. How can a God of love command and even lead his people to completely destroy others? And doesn’t this seem to justify war and other evil atrocities done in God’s name today?
