Birth of Jesus

Teen Talk: Foretold & Fulfilled - Proclamations

December 23, 2020 • Michael Fitzgerald

This week we look at many special revelations that are given to different people about who the “Messiah” will be. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Why are these proclamations so important? How do their fulfillment strengthen your faith that Jesus is the true Messiah? 2.Each of these proclamations become reasons each of these people believe in Jesus as the Messiah. How/why do you think these people’s lives were changed because God involved them in these proclamations? What are some reasons you believe in Jesus as the Messiah? What are some doubts you have? 3. With each proclamation, an action immediately followed. Jesus has been proclaimed to you as Messiah—Promised deliverer—what actions do you need to do in response this Christmas season? What scriptures do you need to live out?

Teen Talk: Foretold & Fulfilled - Locations

There are hundreds of prophesies which were fulfilled about Jesus. In week 1, we looked at WHO was in Jesus' family tree, this week we look at WHERE Jesus was to spend His time. God was intentional about the locations of Jesus’ birth and where He would live as a child. God is just as intentional about WHERE He put you. How can you be intentional about your time at these places (for the sake of sharing Jesus!)? DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Why would God be so exact on the locations of Jesus' birth and childhood?  2. How many locations do we see Jesus move to during his childhood? How many prophesies do we see fulfilled in the second chapter of Matthew? 3. 1 Corinthians 6:20 explains that because God purchased us, we should glorify Him. We owe God everything because He saved us. Do you live for God like you “owe Him everything?” If not, what do you need to change? 4. God was so intentional (on purpose) about Jesus’ the locations of Jesus’ birth and where He would live as a child. Where are some places you will go leading up to Christmas? How can you be just as intentional about your time at these places (for the sake of sharing Jesus!)?

Have you ever stopped to consider, why Jesus (not Muhammed, Ghandi, the Pope, or some other person yet to come)? How can anyone be certain that Jesus is the one Messiah promised in Scripture long ago anyway? Jesus self-proclaimed that He was the way, truth, and life and that no one could come to the Father in Heaven except through Him (John 14:6). But are His words all we have to go by? How can we know that He is truly God’s Son and our source of hope, not just at Christmas, but all year long? Throughout the Old Testament, the Messiah, or Promised One, was FORETOLD.  There were prophesies, or claims of future events, made about Him - some hundreds and others even thousands of years before He was born. They would describe His bloodline, His birthplace, His character, and His life events. There were not just a handful of these prophecies made - there were over 300! The God of the Bible  wanted it to be clear who the Messiah was so that His people would recognize Him once He arrived.  Through Jesus, the prophecies FORETOLD were FULFILLED - every single one.  Join us today as we look prophecies made about Jesus’ lineage and talk about some ways you can be intentional this Christmas season.
