THEME VERSE--2 Corinthians 5:7--For we walk by faith, not by sight. • Before we can walk by faith we have to understand where our focus is WHY NOT U? | Do you ever ask the question why don’t you hear from God? WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS ON? MATTHEW 12:34 | For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. • GOD FOCUSED • What it looks like (Confidence in God, Dependence on God and his ability to provide, Life focused on God’s activity, Humble before God and others, Denies self for God and others, Seek first the kingdom of God, Seek God’s view point in ever situation) • 1 SAMUEL 17:26 | Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?” • SELF FOCUSED • What it looks like (Life focused on self, Proud of self and accomplishments, Depend on your own abilities, Seek acceptance from others, Look at situation through humans eyes, Others focused-Acceptance, insecurity, fitting in, Fears, stress, anxiiety, whats in it for me? ) • 2 SAMUEL 11:2-4 | David Saw Bathsheba and David took what he wanted. WHAT IS EVIL? • ECCLESIASTES 12:14 | God declares what is evil It’s not what you think evil is WHO IS EVIL? • ROMANS 3:9-18 | All are evil • LUKE 6:45 | The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. • JAMES 3:11 | Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? • SALT WATER(SIN) & FRESH WATER(RIGHTEOUSNESS) OBJECT LESSON • No matter how much fresh water(righteousness) you add it is still salty(sin)

ARE YOU SPIRITUALLY SICK? • SALT WATER & WATER FILTER OBJECT LESSON | SALT IS SIN AND WATER RIGHTEOUSNESS THE FILTER IS JESUS • Do you have salt in you? • Jesus wants to filter it out of your life!--It is impossible to do it alone! GOSPEL • ROMANS 5:12 | Sin passed to all men • ROMANS 3:23 | All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God • ROMANS 6:23 | The wages of sin is death • ROMANS 3 | We are made right with God when we put our faith in Jesus Christ • ROMANS 10:9 | Admit, Believe and Confess CHALLENGE WHAT IS GOD SAYING TO YOU? • God who created you with a purpose and in his image want to have a relationship with you, just like he did Adam and eve in the Garden of Eden. • Suppose you were dating someone. What are the primary reasons you would want to spend time with them? (To learn their likes and dislikes, To get to know their family background, To understand their knowledge and education, To develop affection for them, For the enjoyment of being with them) • Adam and Eve would walk with God every evening in the cool • Do it now. WHO IS GOD • GENESIS 1:26-28 | Trinity HOW GOD SPEAKS TO PEOPLE • ROMANS 1 | He speaks through creation • HEBREWS 1:1-2 | In the Old Testament various ways, then through His son, now through the H.S. • JOHN 16:13-15 | When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all http://truth...what He hears from Father through me WHO THE HS IS • JOHN 14:26 | The Holy Spirit is our teacher WHAT THE HS SPEAKS • JOHN 16:8 | Righteousness, Sin, Judgment to come THE FILTER • Through the Bible (2 Timothy 2:15, Psalm 119:11), • Prayer (Luke 12:12, John 14:26, 1 Thessalonians 5:17), • MUST AGREE WITH THE WORD OF GOD • Circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:11, Acts 2:42) • What they are and what they are not. • MUST AGREE WITH THE WORD OF GOD • God does not plan and condone mans sin, but he uses it once it has happened to show his Love to people. • EXAMPLE | 2 PETER 1:16-21 | Example of Peter using the filter CHALLENGE WHAT IS THE KEY TO KNOWING THE VOICE OF GOD? An intimate relationship. • JOHN 10:27-28 | My sheep know my voice • Do you hear God speak to you? • Do you have an intimate relationship with God? (NOT | Do you attend church, believe in a higher power, good outweighs your bad) • Is Jesus your Lord or is he just your Savior?

PRACTICAL WAYS TO HEAR THE HOLY SPIRIT • DEUTERONOMY 6:4-9 & 2 TIMOTHY 2:15 | • READ | (Your Bible, Christian living books, blogs) • WRITE | Write them down and talk about them • VERSES | Write down verses that God has spoke to you though • Journal • Phone background • Instagram • Sticky Notes on your mirror, car etc… • QUESTIONS | Write down questions you have about the Bible while reading, praying or doing life • LEARNING | What God spoke to you, so that you can remember when your face temptation! • TALK | Talk with other believers who you know will provide you with Biblically sound advice • PSALM 119:11 | your word have i hid in my heart • MEMORIZE • MATTHEW 6 | Jesus teaches how to pray • PRAY | Praise, Repent, Ask, Yield • PSALM 1 | Meditate on the Word of God • MEDITATE OR THINK | On what God is teaching you • ACTS 2:42 | Devoted to the Apostles teachings • LISTEN | Messages about the Word of God from trusted men and women of God • COMMUNITY | Talk with other believers part of that community about what God is teaching you CHALLENGE • JAMES 1:22-25 | If you say that you want God to speak to you, If you say you want God to use you, take these practical steps and DO THEM!

WHAT GOD SAYS WHEN HE SPEAKS • EXODUS 3:1-10 | How god shows himself, his purpose and his ways through Moses • HIMSELF Isaiah 52:6 | I am the God of your father • HIS PURPOSE Amos 3:7 | So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians • HIS WAYS Micah 4:2 | Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” WHAT IS GOD’S WILL FOR MY LIFE? • THE PROBLEM | You are asking the wrong question. And if you ask the wrong question you will get the wrong answer. • JOHN 5:17, 19-20 | We do what we see the Father doing just like Jesus did • Who is always at work? • How much can the son do by Himself? • What does the song do? • Who are you in the is passage? • THE SOLUTION | You need to ask the right questions. • What is God’s will? 1 Timothy 2:4 | Wants everyone to be saved, Matthew 28 | Go make disciples • What is God doing to accomplish that? • God how do you want me to be a part of that! CHALLENGE • God is always at work around you and He is speaking to you • What is he saying to you about HIMSELF, HIS PURPOSE, AND HIS WAYS? • What are you doing to be a part of that?

THE CRISIS | THE DOUBT & FICTION • GODS PLANS ARE DIFFERENT | This is dumb, He/she is leading wrong, I have to give up..., Jonah (hate), That does not make any sense, why would I do it like, what difference will that make? That is impossible • FEAR | Did God really say that, persecution, rejection, insecurities--I am too sinful, God wouldn’t want me, , inabilities--I don’t know enough, I don’t have that gift, How could you use me?, Death, That is impossible • OPPOSITION | Family and Friends-what will others think • LAZINESS | DEUTERONOMY 6 | when you get to the promise land don’t forget who got you there—David and Bathsheba THE TRUTH & REALITY • GOD CALLS EVERYONE | 1 TIMOTHY 2:3-4 | who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. • God created you • God is authoring your life • GOD QUALIFIES THE CALLED! • ACTS 4:13 | see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. • 1 CORINTHIANS 1:27—God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. • JAMES 5:16-18—Elijah was as human as we are, and yet • Moses shepherd--Spiritual leader/King, Gideon farmer--Warrior, Disciples were fisherman--Apostles/ Pastors, David was a shepherd--King, Deborah was woman--Judge of the Israelites, Rahab was a prostitute-- Save the Israelites, Bathsheba was an adulterous woman--linage of Jesus • GOD WANTS TO USE YOU! • JOSHUA 6 | God could rain fire from heaven like Sodom and Gomorrah • LUKE 5:1-11 | God could have walked on water, asked angels to hold him up or created a boat or dock but he wanted to use Simon’s boat. WORSHIP CHALLENGE • HOW DOES GOD WANT TO USE YOU? • What has God said to you about HIMSELF, HIS PURPOSES & HIS WAYS? • Do you have doubts or reasons that those things cannot be true? That means you are in a CRISIS OF BELIEF with God • MATTHEW 19:16-30 | Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible

THEME VERSE | 2 Corinthians 5:7--For we walk by faith, not by sight. • To walk by faith we cannot just say we believe we have to act upon that belief • OBJECT LESSON | Trust Fall FAITH = ACTION • JAMES 2 | Show me your faith by your actions ACTION = TRANSFORMATION • WHAT DOES ACTION LOOK LIKE? ROMANS 12:1-2 | And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect • Transformation • MATTHEW 25:21 | “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ • BIBLE EXAMPLE | Abraham’s progression throughout his life—If you are not willing to be faithful in the small things God cannot give you a larger assignment. NO ACTION = CONFORM • JOHN 8 | Slavery to sin • PSALM 1:1 | Slavery demonstrated • BIBLE EXAMPLE | • Jonah and Nebuchadnezzar, they respond in selfishness and end in slavery until they repent and turn their heart towards the Lord. • Luke 9--But first let me http://go...then YOU DON’T WANT TO BE A DISCIPLE. You want Jesus to be your SAVIOR BUT NOT LORD CHALLENGE • JAMES 2:19-26 | You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?...

CHOOSE WHO YOU ARE GOING TO SERVE? • JOHN 8:1-59 | Jesus teaches on slavery to sin • JESUS DEMONSTRATES FREEDOM | VS 1-11 • Woman caught in adultery and Jesus forgives | I do not condemn you • Teaches her how to live free | Go and sin no more • JESUS TEACHES WHAT A DISCIPLE IS | VS 12 & 31-33 • Follow me and you will have no darkness in you • Those who are of me remain faithful to my teachings • Truth will set you free • JESUS TEACHES THAT THOSE WHO SIN ARE SLAVES | VS 33-36 • Slave to Sin but those who are Free are free indeed • JOHN 14:6 | You can be set free from your Sin and slavery to the flesh but you have to come to know who Truth is • ROMANS 10:9 | You have to admit, believe and confess him • JESUS SHOWS THEM THEY DON’T BELIEVE | VS 42 • But our father is Abraham • I grew up in Church. • My parents believe • JOHN 10:1-18 | Jesus teaches there is only one way • JAMES 2:19 | I believe in God (Even the demons believe and tremble.) • QUESTION & ANSWER • Q: Who is truly a disciple(those who follow Christ)? • A: JOHN 8:31 | Only those who remain faithful to his teachings are truly his. • THE PEOPLE RETORTED | VS48 • “You Samaritan devil! Didn’t we say all along that you were possessed by a demon?” • JESUS PREACHES FREEDOM | V51-52 • I tell you the truth, anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!” SUMMER CAMP 2019 CHALLENGE WHY NOT YOU! | CHOOSE TO LET GOD USE YOU! • DEUTERONOMY 30:15-20 | “Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. • 1 PETER 3:13-17 | But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life.
