Prayers for Missions

May 31, 2020 • Chan Mitchell

The church fulfills the mission of taking the Gospel to the nations in four distinct ways - going, sending, supporting, and praying. Of all these, nothing is more productive and powerful than prayer. Every believe is called to help complete God's mission of making His name known among the nations through the power of prayer. Our prayers also remain the greatest way we can support those who are taking the Gospel to places and people who have very little access to it. We have the ability to call upon the very power of God to intervene in ways that are beyond our human limitations in order to reach and save the lost. Joining God on His mission will not always be easy, but it will always be worth it.

Sharing the Gospel

May 24, 2020 • Chan Mitchell

God always has a purpose for everything He does. That includes His Church. Was the purpose of the Church to just be a place where people could get together to pray and fellowship? Or is there a greater purpose—a greater mission—God had in mind for His Church? The Bible indicates that the mission of God’s Church is to share the gospel message of Jesus Christ with every nation, tribe and tongue (Revelation 7:9). In the gospels, Jesus explained that there would be signs of the last days (false prophets, natural disasters, international turmoil, etc.). However, Jesus also said the end would not come until the gospel of the kingdom was proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to the nations. The mission of God’s Church is to take the gospel to people who have little or no access to it so they might be able to respond to the message of grace and salvation.
