There are a few places where every person should feel seen, loved and valued no matter their position, economic status or ethnicity. Families, communities and governments can fail us all by treating people with partiality, however, Jesus’ church is command to excel in handling people properly.

About half way through the book, James is now going to address the ultimate test of our self control. Can we control our tongues? James makes a good case for why not doing so can lead to destruction when it comes to interacting with other people. What we learn learn from this chapter is we all stumble and maturity is a process. We also see the tongue is a small part of the body, but it is very powerful. What it ultimately comes down to is this: will we look to the Lord for wisdom?
