Care for the Poor

It can be a challenge to know how to respond to those who are poor. But God is clear that we must be attentive to the needs of the poor and that those of us who are rich are to be generous to them and share what we have. We have what we have not just for our benefit but for the benefit of others. We will address the attitudes that we have about the poor and the fact that all of us have the same Maker. Most of us have gotten into trouble more than once because we refused to listen to others-even those who truly love us and are committed to us. Pride and foolishness often keep us from taking advice and input from others. Listening well takes humility and a willingness to learn and be corrected. The truly smart and wise people are those who are willing to listen to others-even their enemies if they are speaking the truth.
