Feeling Uncertain: Anchor in His Presence

June 7, 2020 • Ron Moore

What comes into your mind when you think about God is the most important thing about us . . . the most [momentous] fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like. -A. W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy Hebrews 6:19 We have this sure and steadfast anchor of the soul. God is: Personal Majestic God is personal AND God is majestic. God is personal and majestic in all of his acts. God is personal and majestic over all the nations of the world. God is personal and he is majestic over all the world.  God is personal and he is majestic over all the world’s leaders. God is personal and majestic over the universe. The world dwarfs us all, but God dwarfs the world.        -J. I. Packer, Knowing God, 87  BIBLE 2020 We want to invite you to join the Bible2020 challenge and read the entire Bible in 2020. Feeling Out of Control: Anchor in Identity

May 31, 2020 • Ron Moore

Significant Secure Accepted Forgiven Empowered Isaiah 43:1 Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:3-4 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 8:31-39 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long;     we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:14-17 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. Mark 14:36 And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”  Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” . Romans 8:1-2 The truth is that no condemnation now hangs over the head of those who are “in” Christ Jesus. For the new spiritual principle of life “in” Christ Jesus lifts me out of the old vicious circle of sin and death (J. B. Phillips Translations).  Psalm 103:10-12 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. Isaiah 38:17 …For you have cast all my sins behind your back. Micah 7:18-19 …He will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.  Jeremiah 31:34 I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”  2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.  Romans 8:9-11 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Feeling Afraid: Anchor in Trust

May 24, 2020 • Ron Moore

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul. Hebrews 6:19a Does your fear cause you to hide…to try to conceal our actions from God? • Fear causes us to lie. • Fear causes us to run. • Fear causes us to pretend. Five Principals of Anchoring in Trust: 1. Anchoring in trust is anchoring in the person of Jesus. 2. Anchoring in trust is anchoring in the instruction of Jesus. 3. Anchoring in trust means you have to get out of the boat. 4. Anchoring in trust is secured by spiritual focus. 5. Anchoring in trust reaches up.
