Author and Perfecter: 1 Corinthians 15

May 2, 2021 • Ron Moore

THE GOSPEL SUMMARY (1 CORINTHIANS 15:3-9)
1. Jesus died for our sins (according to the Scriptures)
2. Jesus was buried as proof of his death.
3. Jesus was raised on the third day (according to the Scriptures)
4. Jesus appeared to many people over a period of time as proof of his resurrection.

SUPPORT FOR THE RESURRECTION
1. Adam became a living being.
The Author and Perfecter became a life-giving spirit.
(1 Cor. 15:45)

2. The natural body is followed by the spiritual body.
(1 Cor. 15:46)

3. Adam was from the dust of the earth.
The Author and Perfecter came from heaven.
(1 Cor. 15:47)

4. Those from the earth are like Adam.
Those who know the Author and Perfecter inherit his spiritual nature.
(1 Cor. 15:48).

5. We now bear the image of “the man of dust.”
One day we “shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.”
(1 Cor. 15:49).

PRACTICAL APPLICATION FROM PAUL
Based on the fact that we will spend eternity in heaven in resurrected bodies:

• Be steadfast—stand firm—in the truth of God’s Word.

• Be encouraged. Even in the challenging times.

• Be immovable—don’t give in to temptation.

• Keep your focus on the Author and Perfecter.
