Beating Burnout

September 29, 2024 • Christina Hernandez • 1 Kings 19:3–12

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is rest.

We all have moments where we miss the mark. Don’t measure up. Fall down. Yet God still loves us and is faithful to redeem and restore. In this series we’ll examine the ways we fall, and discover how God makes a way for us to rise up from them.

QUESTIONS FOR THE ROAD:

1) Have you experienced burnout? Did any of these reasons contribute to it?

* We’re relying on ourselves

* We think Activity = Identity

* We’re neglecting our own needs

* We’re busy with the wrong things

2) What can we learn about God from Elijah’s story? What can we learn about

ourselves?

3) How can you apply some of these safeguards for beating burnout?

* Establish healthy boundaries

* Say ‘yes,’ when you mean it

* Collaborate and delegate

* “Remember the Sabbath”

* Know your enemy

4) If your flame got bigger & brighter, instead of getting burned out, what impact

could it have on your life and those around you?
