Welcome to SLAM Online!
This lesson is all about something that even adults find tricky to deal with anxiety. Even some of the greatest heroes in the Bible felt anxious. But the good news is that God has given us tools to handle it, and we’re going to dig into the Bible to find out what they are. If we give our anxiety to God, He promises to give us peace that is so amazing, it’s hard even to understand it! And all we have to do is bring our worries to Him.
Through Jesus’ teaching about anxiety and worry, the children will learn that worrying about the difficulties of life doesn’t work. They will learn biblical practices they can use whenever they start to feel anxious. It’s time to trade worry for God’s peace! It’s time to take anxiety and “Deal With It!” God’s way!
Low Self-Image

Welcome to SLAM Online!
Children often struggle with seeing themselves the way God sees them. They look in the mirror and see things they don’t like, don’t compare to others, and are different than what they desire to see.
Addressing and overcoming low self-image is essential, as it lays the foundation for a child’s understanding of who they truly are and impacts their ability to navigate the world with confidence and resilience.
In this lesson, the children will learn from the story of David being chosen as king. They will understand that God sees them in a way that is much different than the way they see themselves or even the way others see them. They will learn that God has created them as a masterpiece for His glory.
Fear

Welcome to SLAM Online!
Sheep are easily frightened. It doesn’t take much to spook a sheep and make it run away. Sheep are no different than you and me. Sometimes fear can grip us and not let go very easily.
Life has ups and downs. When times are good, it seems like we are high on the mountaintop. When times are bad, it seems like we are walking through the valley.
When a shepherd leads the sheep through a dark valley, they can get a little scared. The 23rd Psalm says that we don’t have to be scared, even when we go through the darkest valley. Why? Because God is right there with us.
In today’s lesson, your kids will learn through the story of Gideon that we don’t have to fear when we go through tough times. No matter how dark the valley is, we can know that we are NEVER alone. God is always with us.
Depression

Hard times are just a part of life. Even kids face hard days and even hard seasons. It can be a time when a lot of small things add up to make them sad or frustrated, or it can be a time when they’re facing tough circumstances with their family or in school.
Depression is a very real thing and affects kids and adults. When we find ourselves in seasons of depression, we have to “Deal With It” in the right way.
In this lesson, the children will learn from the story of the Prodigal Son about a father who went through a time of deep sadness while his son was away and living in sin. However, his trouble didn’t last forever. In the end, God turned his sadness into joy! The children will learn in the lesson that God can turn their sadness into joy, too! They may face hard times, but with God’s help, they can discover joy!
Loneliness

Welcome to SLAM Online!
Feeling alone is no fun at all. Loneliness is a common feeling, even for followers of Jesus. Children are no exception. Children can certainly experience times of loneliness when they are excluded from activities or groups of friends at school, when their mom or dad are away for a long time, or when moving to a new place.
If you’re not careful, it’s easy to let your loneliness get the best of you. You can become discouraged and bummed out, but as we look at the story of the Apostle Paul in his loneliest times as a prisoner on house arrest, we learn that God is always there for us.
When facing loneliness, you can’t let it consume your life. Instead, you have to recognize God’s presence, use your bad for good, and reach out to others around you, sharing the great news about Jesus!

Rest is something most people crave. When you are tired, worn out, and completely overworked, rest is something your body, mind, and spirit truly need.
One of the biggest issues in people’s lives is stress. Stress comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes, we can create stress ourselves by being so busy with so many things. Kids are involved with sports, school, dance, gymnastics, band, and more. When we are stressed, we can always come to God for rest. He will bring His peace to rest upon us.
In this lesson, your kids will learn from the story of Mary and Martha. When we are filled with life’s stress, His presence is where we belong.
