The Freedom of Surrender

June 30, 2019 • Collin Monger

The United States was built upon principles of freedom. However, many have taken this to mean we are free from moral responsibility and consequences of our actions. As believers we are free from the bondage of sin and death. We have a responsibility to exercise self-control in the decisions we make and remain focused on God in our freedom. (Verses Cited: Jn. 8:32, 36; Ps. 118:5; 1 Pt. 2:16; Rom. 8:2; Phil. 3:12, 3:8; 1 Cor. 11:1; Phil. 2:12; Acts 9:15; 1 Cor. 2:2; Gal. 5:1; Lk. 20:46-47, 21:1-4, 21:6; 1 Sam. 8:11-17, 19; Lk. 14:28; 2 Pt, 3:18)

The Difficult Road

May 26, 2019 • Charles Rowdon

Colossians central theme is the preeminence of Christ; keeping a Christ centered ministry. In order to do this, we must recognize that following Christ may lead to suffering, but it is through our suffering that the message is spread. Following Christ also requires service and stewardship. We are called to present the gospel to our friends and family and to be good stewards of our time and resources. Lastly, all of our work in ministry is done through the power of God in us! (Verses Cited: 2 Corinthians 11:22-25, 30; Acts 9:16; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Galatians 5; Ephesians 4:11-12; Romans 12:1-2; Matthew 25; Jeremiah 12:5; Matthew 25:23; . Lessons from an Empty Tomb

April 21, 2019 • Collin Monger

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave is the single most important event in the Christian faith. There are multiple lessons we can learn from the empty tomb of Christ: • Religion always gets in the way of a personal relationship with God. Religion constantly reminds people they are not good enough to grow closer to God. • God has rejected the old system of religion that sent Christ to the grave. Everything up to Christ burial was done according to the law. • God wants a personal relationship with everyone willing to follow Him. • There is a response when Christ meets us on a personal level. (Verses Cited: John 8:24; 1 Cor. 15; Luke 13:14; Mark 2:23-24; John 20:6; Galatians 4:4; Matt. 5:17; Romans 6:23; John 17:12; Matt. 21:4; John 19:36; Galatians 5:1)

Why Good Friday

April 19, 2019 • Charles Rowdon

Good Friday appears to be an oxymoron because on that day Jesus was arrested, beaten, and killed. It is only good when viewed from God’s perspective. • Jesus’ Power: The power Jesus displayed on the cross was a miracle like none other, one predestined since the foundation of the world. He died for us. • Jesus’ Grace: Two condemned criminals died next to Jesus, one received condemnation and the other grace. • Jesus’ Victory: The victory we have in our lives is a direct result of Jesus’ victory over sin and death. Because of Him, we have life and purpose. (Verses Cited: Luke 20:40, 1st Corinthians 2:2, Luke 23:4, Leviticus 24:16, Matthew 26, Mark 15:32, 1st Peter 1:20, Mark 10:45, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Corinthians 15:22, Romans 5:8)

How God Moves In A Life

April 14, 2019 • Collin Monger

Life is full of surprises and unanswered questions. God often moves in very surprising ways, but always in ways that are intentional to His plan. • God moves surpsingly. God moves in unusual ways, and often in a way we do not expect. • God moves intentionally. Everything the Lord does has a purpose, even though we may not understand what is happening. • God moves controversially. The way God moves is often contrary to popular opinion and belief. We should expect opposition from the world when we align our lives with the plan of God. • God moves faithfully. The Lord will never break His promise. We must follow Him in faith.
