Gossip is one of the easiest things in the world to indulge in and spread. It slides out of our mouths and into the ears of those listening far too easily. Gossip, hearsay, slander, and libel are all known as Lashon Hara (evil speech). Indulging in these forms of communication causes us to stop giving others the benefit of the doubt and believing in their best intentions. God wants us to be free from this form of spirtual blindess! When we stop practicing evil speech, we begin to allow God to create a “safe space” where we can experience restoration and become an avenue of freedom for others as well!

As we make our opinions and actions known via social media, inevitably someone will become offended at what they see and execute a snap judgment, one usually based on generalizations that lack context. Yeshua spoke to us in the Sermon On The Mount that this kind of judgmental behavior was not only counterproductive but dangerous! He warned us that the self-righteousness that we indulge in by judging others is a form of spiritual blindness that will eventually ruin our faith. God wants us to be free of the bondage that being hyper-critical brings! By allowing Him to examine our motives BEFORE we execute judgment we can create a “safe-space” where healing and restoration will occur for those who are far from God and for ourselves as well.
