As you know, we are reading the Bible together in 2023 and we start our reading plan on the first Monday of the year, January 2nd. For many of us, this sounds like a daunting task. We wonder, how do I read the Bible? That’s the question we’ll take up this Sunday and hope to leave you more equipped to read the Bible in the new year. Pastor Josh
The Bible is a story that leads us to Jesus Christ. Even though we are only in the first week of our readings, there have already been significant developments in the storyline of Scripture, including the creation, humanity’s fall into sin, judgment, and the promise of redemption. This Sunday we’ll consider these developments and hope to be in a position to better appreciate the story as a whole. Pastor Josh
Covenants are counter-intuitive in our society. Traditional marriage vows sound wild to our modern ears. Do couples really mean, “for better or worse, for richer or poor, in joy and in sorrow”?! We live in a culture full of convenient agreements, compared to binding relationships. When peoples’ perceived agreement is broken, or too hard, they often will try and get out of their contract. This Sunday we will continue our Bible in a Year sermon series and study the biblical treasure of a covenant - looking at God’s covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15 & 17.
