Confession

Ash Wednesday

February 22, 2023 • Pastor Chad Ott • Psalm 51:1–12, 1 John 1:5–9, Luke 5:17–25

Welcome to a special Ash Wednesday service in the At the Crossroads series, in which the psalmist David reaches the crossroads of confession and confesses his sins to the Lord. We are called to confess our sins to the Son of David and find forgiveness in him. Let this service’s Imposition of Ashes, readings from Scripture, children’s sermon, sermon dialog with David and hymns help us see the direction we must take at the crossroads of confession.

Obedience

March 29, 2023 • Pastor Daniel Ondov • Psalm 119:1–8, Ephesians 4:1–6, Matthew 26:36–46

On this last week in the At the Crossroads series, Jesus nears the time when he must die for our sins and he asks his Father if the cup might pass from him. But when the time comes, he obeys his Father’s will. When we are called upon to follow God’s will, we must obey. Let the readings from Scripture, sermon dialog with John and hymns help us come to the crossroads of declaration ready to follow God’s plan for us wholeheartedly.

Declaration

March 22, 2023 • Pastor Daniel Ondov • Isaiah 6:1–8, Acts 2:22–28, Luke 22:54–62

In the Passion narrative, Peter is asked to declare whether or not he knows Jesus and he decides to deny his Savior. When questioned about our Lord, we are called to boldly declare our faith in Christ. Let the readings from Scripture, sermon dialog with Peter, and hymns help us come to the crossroads of declaration ready to announce our allegiance to the Lord.

Compassion

March 15, 2023 • Pastor Chad Ott • Isaiah 61:1–3, Colossians 3:12–17, Luke 22:47–51

This week, Jesus chooses to show compassion to a wounded participant in his own arrest. We are called to show compassion, not anger, even to those in our midst whom we might consider our enemies. Let the readings from Scripture, sermon dialog with the servant Malchus who was healed, and hymns help us to come to the crossroads of compassion ready to love others as Christ loved us.
