God works miracles through those who obey, though often times our nature rebels against Him. Regardless of which path we choose...obedience or rebellion, God is the God of second chances. Few stories illustrate this principle more clearly than the story of Jonah. Jonah 1:1-3. Fear and growth are a package deal. We spend so much time trying to see the end that we never get around to the beginning. Doing the wrong thing for the right reason is still the wrong thing. Heb 11:1. Prov. 14:12. Rom 8:37-39.

Brokenness is a season. It’s not a destination. Jonah’s prayer was a prayer of perspective. He was remembering God’s faithfulness. It was a passionate prayer. When you get desperate you get determined. It was a prayer with the praise of gratitude. When it’s painful but you’re still thankful. The greater the calling the greater the breaking.

God’s second chance starts with our understanding that we have no chance at all without His grace. What is it in your life that appears to be an interruption but in reality just might be an invitation to tell God’s story?

Focus on your contribution. Mercy frees me from the need to fix whoever is wrong. Listen more, talk less. Prov. 18:2 fools have no interest in understanding. Speak the truth in love. Choose to love and forgive.
