The importance of leadership cannot be overstated. As the leader goes, the team goes.

Without strong leadership, the team suffers.

The problem is many current and aspiring captains are not being trained to be effective team captains.

Team captain’s face unique challenges:

• How do I lead the team while also managing my own game?

• How do I create and drive a Championship culture?

• How do I handle a selfish teammate who will not buy in to a team first mentality?

• How do I hold teammates accountable?

• How do I be a mediator with coach when my teammates are my friends?

• How do I keep from getting prideful when I am the only one with a letter on my chest?

• When do I speak up, versus stay silent?

• What do I do when our team has cliques or is in a slump?

• Am I still a great leader if I am not the best player?

That is why you are here. Our goal is to strengthen you as a leader by giving you 5 Keys to be an Extraordinary Team Captain.

These five keys have stood the test of time. Regardless of your team’s dynamic, these principles will apply and undoubtedly help you.

Mental Toughness Through Adversity

Mental toughness is essential to being an elite competitor. Every athlete and coach faces adversity and must stand against negative thoughts, insecurities, emotions, and discouragement. To be mentally tough is to have the ability to withstand great mental strain or hardship without breaking. This training event focuses on 5 keys to building mental toughness so we can compete for Christ with excellence and make an eternal impact.

Overcoming the Fear of Failure

Fear of failure is a confidence killer! Thankfully, in Christ, we do not have to be a slave to fear! God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). In this Training Session, we will discuss how to overcome the fear of failure so we can compete for Christ with freedom and confidence. We will lay out the Fear Buster Process and four steps to turn fear motivation into love motivation that competes with radical confidence and impacts eternity! Overcoming Comparison Traps

Comparing ourselves to others is a confidence killer! The Apostle Paul knew the danger and foolishness of comparisons when he wrote to the Corinthian church, "Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding." (2 Corinthians 10;12) In this Training Session, we will discuss how to overcome comparison traps so we can compete for Christ with freedom and confidence. PE Training Sessions meet monthly on Zoom.
