Psalm 71 | Part 4: Psalms for Shepherds

An audible devotional on Psalms 71

June 25, 2022 • Holly Culhane, Psalms for Shepherds • Psalm 71

We conclude our time in Psalm 71 today with these verses:

22 I will also praise you with the harp
for your faithfulness, O my God;
I will sing praises to you with the lyre,
O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips will shout for joy,
when I sing praises to you;
my soul also, which you have redeemed.
24 And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long,
for they have been put to shame and disappointed
who sought to do me hurt.

Again, the psalmist’s confidence in our Father is encouraging me to increase my faith! But what I love most about these verses is that the author of this psalm isn’t just keeping this confidence to himself... he is sharing it with others. His desire is that we all know that no matter the circumstances — no matter how long the wait is to see the other side of a calamity or frustrating circumstances or disappointment — that God will bring fulfillment, restoration, and joy.

I encourage you to re-read the entire chapter of Psalm 71 before you conclude your devotional and I pray you continue to live deeply into your calling this week as shepherd in the lives of those you influence.
