Fateful Continuance

January 8, 2023 • Pastor Anthony J Shetley • Luke 13:1–9, Romans 6:13, Romans 6:16, Romans 6:23

Among the pious Jews living during the time of Jesus’ ministry, suffering and tragedy were always seen as the result of one’s sinfulness. However, Jesus made it clear to them that this was not always the case. Tragedy can strike anytime, anywhere, to anybody, and without any warning. In light of this truth, it is imperative for us to be ready. There is no greater tragedy than to "perish" eternally. Therefore, Jesus taught that one must repent! To repent is to change. This change begins in the mind, then makes its way into the heart, and then it is finally realized in the conduct and actions of one’s life.
