Jesus' Disciples

The doorway into the Church is through a person, Jesus of Nazareth. One way we honor Him is by living intentionally so that His purposes can emerge in the Church. Pastor Allen teaches that like the early disciples, we do this through confessing Jesus as Lord, participating in water baptism, serving in His name, and growing toward spiritual maturity in the context of a small group.

God’s vision for the Church is not that we would engage in formal religious activity or be an educational society, but that we would give expression to His purposes on the Earth. Jesus is head of the Church, and He changes everything when we submit to His lordship. Without Jesus, we are simply well-intentioned people trying to do good things. With Jesus, we have an opportunity to show the grace and mercy and love of God to the world.

The greatest invitation we can ever receive is to be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ. The gathering of God’s people in a committed community is essential to our spiritual well-being and maturity. As we integrate our commitment to Jesus into the entire fabric of our lives, God does something through us to give purpose to our days in the earth and also lay up treasure in heaven.
