Paul confronts Peter and Barnabas on their two-faced approach to ministry evidenced in their reluctance to eat with Gentile people. Paul calls this reluctance hypocrisy and lays down the foundation of salvation for all people based on the grace of God received through faith.

Boast the Cross!

In the conclusion to Galatians, Paul encourages the churches of Galatia to get along for the sake of the gospel and the good of all. The only boasting should be the communal shout of praise that proclaims the gift of grace received by the cross of Jesus Christ.

Stand Firm! Live Free!

Paul encourages the Galatians to stand firm in the freedom that they have been given by grace, instead of succumbing again to the previous bondage of religion under the law. Today we address the illogical human tendency to prefer bondage to the awe-inducing experience of Christian freedom.

Paul addresses two things enslaving people in the churches of Galatia: 1) worship and dependence on the natural order and 2) worship and dependence of the law of God. Neither idol is enough to deliver true freedom. We are made free as children of the promise, children of the free woman.
