Frustrated With God

We all face times when it feels like God is far away, busy or late.

What Can We Depend on God For?

June 5, 2022 • Dustin Funk • John 16:33, Hebrews 4:14–16

God doesn’t say yes to all our requests. But if we can’t expect him to give us what we ask for, what can we expect? In this message, we look at what the book of Hebrews and tells us exactly what we can expect from God. John 16 “In this world you will have trouble...” - Jesus Hebrews 4 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

When the Answer is "No"

June 12, 2022 • Dustin Funk • 2 Corinthians 12:7–10, 2 Corinthians 4:7

When God says no, it is not a reflection of your faith; it is perhaps your greatest opportunity to become a reflection of his grace. 2 Corinthians 12 Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 4 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us.

What Does Great Faith Look Like?

June 19, 2022 • Dustin Funk • John 5:30, John 12:49–50, John 6:38–40, John 14:10–14, 1 John 5:14–15

How would your life be different if you had perfect faith? This message, explains what great faith looks like today. John 5:30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. - Jesus John 12:49-50 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say. - Jesus John 6:38-40 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. - Jesus John 14:10-14 The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Very truly I tell you, all who have faith in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. - Jesus 1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
