Messages from Easters at Northstar

Easter 2015

April 5, 2015 • Jeff Noble • Luke 24

As we celebrate Easter we look at what took place on the road to Emmaus. We look at the disciples and the few that saw Jesus after he rose from the grave and end up asking if we have an 'Emmaus heart' or a true Easter heart?

Palm Sunday 2015

March 29, 2015 • Neal Nelson • Luke 19

As we begin to celebrate 'Passion Week' with Palm Sunday, Neal has us look at who Jesus really is and why we should be worshiping Him for who He is and not who we think He is.

Good Friday 2023

April 7, 2023 • Matt Simpson

We call this day Good Friday. But what makes Good Friday, good? At first glance, it isn’t good at all. What is good about Jesus dying alone, humiliated, in excruciating pain, mocked and treated like a common criminal? However, through Jesus we can now never be separated from the love of God. He has won the only victory that matters. And that is why Good Friday is good.

Easter 2023: What practical good is Easter?

April 9, 2023 • Jeff Noble • Matthew 1:21, Matthew 4:17

In this message, we examine the profound reality that... the resurrection is a very, very BIG DEAL. The resurrection of Jesus seals our own resurrection, and it assures us that we too will be raised to a new life and a new KIND of life. Listen in and learn how the right understanding of the Resurrection will change your life and hope for every day forward!

The Ultimate Easter – His Glorious Appearing

April 11, 2021 • Jeff Noble

This sermon emphasized the glorious day of judgment when Jesus returns. We are reminded that it was the whole of our sin that held Jesus on the cross, and that through true faith in Him, we will be filled with joy and worship on the day of His return.

Easter Sunday: Easter Always

April 4, 2021 • Jeff Noble

Jeff reminds us that Easter is an invitation to relationship with Jesus and an assignment to go on mission. Easter is not intended to be a date on your calendar, or something you do with your family, but a mindset. Jesus is risen and invites us to follow him daily.

Good Friday: For You

April 2, 2021 • Jeff Noble

This sermon reminds up that Jesus was accused, flogged, struck, spit upon, crucified, and insulted for us. For our sins, Jesus was crucified. Our past, present, and future sins were there upon the cross. We were humbly reminded that all this was done for us.

A Good Friday Gospel Paradox

April 6, 2012 • Jeff Noble • Mark 15

From Mark 15, we reflect on a paradox of gospel proportions: the guilty freed; the innocent condemned. Listen in as Jeff Noble shares the story of the crucifixion.

Easter: A New Normal

April 12, 2020 • Jeff Noble

The first hours of the first Easter Sunday were full of chaos and confusion. Angels, soldiers, disciples running, and reports of a risen Jesus. How would Jesus' resurrection impact what the disciples thought was their "new normal?"

Good Friday: Why Are You Afraid?

April 10, 2020 • Matt Simpson

In Matthew 27:32-50, the reality of the cross is that Jesus really *died." His death disheartened the disciples, but it brought a new reality - HOPE. And yet, in those dark moments of the cross, God was dealing with sin, death, and hopelessness. Jesus asked His disciples during His ministry, "Why are you afraid?" From the cross, He declared, "It is finished." Death defeated. Sin vanquished. Fear no more.

Easter Sunday: Nothing is Impossible Now

April 21, 2019 • Jeff Noble

Through looking at Peter's failures as he tries desperately to love Jesus but denies him three times, we learn that the cross was for the purpose of restoring us and commissioning us. We fail Jesus every day, but he loves us and reminds us to leave our sin in the past because he has greater purpose for us. The cross made a way for sinful people to become right with God. The cross made the impossible possible.

Good Friday: Peter's Bad Friday

April 19, 2019 • Jeff Noble

Good Friday was not good for the disciples, particularly Peter. For him, it was the culmination of weeks of frustration and failure. Would there be any recovery from being called "Satan" and denying Jesus?

Palm Sunday: Who He Is, What He Does

April 14, 2019 • Jeff Noble

This sermon examines Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem as people praised him and welcomed him with the waving of palm branches. Diving deeper, we learn that we can stand in the crowed and shout "hosanna" to Jesus and yet be a hindrance to Jesus when we do not acknowledge his identity and his mission. The beginning of Holy Week is a time for us to truly contemplate the authority and the mission of the Messiah.

Easter: Three Angel Commands for 2018

April 1, 2018 • Jeff Noble

In Matthew 28, we read of an encounter with angels on Jesus' resurrection morning. Three commands are given to those at the tomb that are powerfully relevant for us today - whether Christian or not Christian.
