This message examines the character of King Saul’s son, Jonathan. He is the man who would have been king had Saul not been disobedient and led by fear. Jonathan’s convictions about God directed his decisions, actions and relationships. The Israelites want a king. They want to be like all the other nations. Saul, the first king of Israel, is a tall, impressive man. God anoints Saul to deliver Israel from the Philistines, but he chooses expedience and fear over obedience. It is not how you look or what your skills appear to be. God can do more with the “nobody" whose heart belongs to Him than He can with those who “appear” impressive.
