Worship Episode 5: Family Worship
February 28, 2022 • Andrew Ledbetter, Blaine Ledbetter • Deuteronomy
Family Worship is as Tony Kummer describes it, "the regular and intentional gathering of a household to praise God together.” Every family is a beehive of busyness. Making the time — even ten minutes — for family worship is a challenge for everyone. But where there’s a desire for family worship — and some flexibility — there’s almost always a way to make it happen. We’re raising families to be “oaks of righteousness” (Isaiah 61:3), to stand firm on God's truth. Worship Episode 4: Gospel Centered Worship
February 21, 2022 • Scott Lentz, Chasity Hall
What makes worship possible is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The gospel is what we proclaim and sing in worship and is what calls us together each week. Jesus Christ is at the center and His word informs our worship. Every element in the service must be measured against God’s revelation in the Scriptures. Are we singing, saying, and hearing what is true? Every Sunday is another opportunity to sing about the cross, glory in our Savior, and marvel at the good news of the gospel.
Worship Episode 3: Liturgy as an Ordinary Means of Grace
February 14, 2022 • Troy Comer, Andrew Ledbetter
“Liturgy” simply refers to a structured or ordered service of worship. God can work in a number of ways, but he has committed to being with us and transforming us through certain “means of grace” through various elements of the worship service. These include prayer, the preaching of the word, and through the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism. We come to worship to give God glory, but also to meet with him and receive a blessing from his hand (Numbers 6:24-25). Worship Episode 2: Edification Of The Saints
February 7, 2022 • Hayden Grant, Madie Comer
Hebrews 10:21-25 "21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Corporate worship is set apart from individual worship in its focus on edification. Edification literally means to build up to bring someone up toward Christ likeness. The writer’s principle in Hebrews 10 is that corporate worship must strive for edification of the saints. This means, among other things, that the worship service will not only be Word-centered, but also full of words. Worship Episode 1: For The Glory of God
January 31, 2022 • Troy Comer, Scott Lentz
Worship is ultimately for God. He is the most important audience at every service, gathering, or event. Corporate worship is meant to be an anticipation of the heavenly gathering of the Saints. Every week we gather brings us one Sunday closer to the day when God will gather his people from every tribe, language, people, and nation to worship the Lamb who was slain (Revelation 5:10–12). Congregational worship like we’ve never experienced before. We then should direct all our attention to the throne to sing of Christ’s work. Let's gladly take full advantage of every opportunity God gives us to gather together to make much of the name of Jesus for His glory and Name's sake.
