Last week we were challenged to converse on politics with grace and understanding, bringing relationship first and displaying the love Jesus displayed in the midst of often heated discussions. However, while we practice grace in our dialogue with one another, we must also look in our own hearts and ask ourselves: as followers of Jesus, how do we live under the authority of our government? In political seasons such as this, it's often easy to forget what it means to love one another, what it means to share Jesus with one another. When moving to Canada actually seems like a viable option, we find that the Bible calls us to "honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor." (1 Peter 2:17) As a church, what is our priority? As the church, what are our policies when it comes to the kingdom of this world and the Kingdom of Heaven?
