Two are Better Than One

September 18, 2023 • Mike Sorcinelli • Ecclesiastes 4:7–12

In our stand-alone message today we are talking about the importance of not living life alone.

God created us for the community, especially during life's difficult moments like receiving bad news from a doctor, facing infidelity, experiencing a miscarriage, going through divorce, or losing a job. The New Testament instructs Christians to love, care for, support, and pray for one another in various ways. Having this support system helps people find strength during challenging times, while those without it struggle more. The message is clear: enduring tough situations alone is even harder than the situations themselves. God's intention is that believers have a community to walk alongside them in life, and even though the pandemic may have caused isolation, it's crucial to re-engage and find that supportive community once again.

Tragedy and Triumph

In “Christ the King” we are studying the gospel according to Matthew. Matthew wrote to proclaim to all that Jesus is the Christ - the Messiah - the fulfillment of God’s promise of a King who would rule over an eternal kingdom. In this gospel we see the King who was revealed, the King who was rejected and the King who one day will return.  Our text this week is Matthew 19:23-29 and our theme is barriers to eternal life.
