Sermon Title: “The Logic of God”
Sermon Summary:
How many times have you heard people say, “Christianity cannot be true. Look at the people in the church.
They’re sinners like everyone else.” Raymond Ortlund, Jr. says Isaiah 48 goes deeper. “How does God think?
Christianity must be true. Look at the people in the church. They’re sinners like everyone else.” God knows we
are hardheaded, and we have hearts of stone. Yet in love He does not give up on us even when we do not live
by real faith. He declares things to us from old. He announces them before they come to pass so we will not
say our idols did it. Out of love for His people He restrains His anger. He refines them in the furnace of
affliction because he will not give His glory to another. It may seem illogical to us that he would be so gracious
to such a sinful people, but He is a good Savior no matter what he chooses to do. The ultimate wickedness is
to refuse His grace. There can be no peace for those who reject such grace. Resistance must become trust;
refusing, to listening; and delaying, to following.
