They hunger to hear a verbal blessing from mom and dad - your hopes and dreams for them. The blessed future and hope you see that God may have for them.

Without dad alive, will Joseph finally take revenge? Will he persecute, perhaps even kill, us for what we have done to him? Joseph's response to his brothers' fears is amazing. It truly shows that he had forgiven them. He not only wished them and their families well, committing to provide for them all their lives (when you bless others who have hurt you, it's a sure sign you've forgiven them), but he pronounces great faith in God's overarching, absolute providence. Jacob and his family are now in Egypt. They have been given the land of Goshen, a prime area for shepherds to oversee their flocks. It will be their home for the next 400+ years. Two amazing circumstances happen in chapter 47. A 130 year-old shepherd from Canaan blesses the most powerful man on the face of the earth. We are blessed to be a blessing - always and to whomever we are around. Also, in the midst of the worst of the famine, Joseph devises a plan to save the nation.
