For the Fame of His Name

In this final passage in the book of Matthew, we find the risen Christ giving instructions to His disciples that they will now embark on the bold mission of making disciples of all nations. We find in our Lord's command not only the means by which we can be obedient to Him in this, but the sure promise of Christ Himself: He is with us until the end of the age. Therefore, we can go boldly forth, trusting that He will honor this work, for the fame of His name.
The Mysteries of the Kingdom of God

In a key transition point in the gospel of Matthew we see a consequence of the rejection of Jesus as the Messiah-King. From this point forward He began to speak in parables and in doing so He hid the hope of the Kingdom of God from most of the listeners. He called these parables the “mysteries of the kingdom.” This sermon examines what they say and what they reveal about the Kingdom of God.

Many view the teaching aspect of discipleship as merely reading through a book with someone in a coffee shop. However, it is far more broad, and involves opening up your entire life to a person. This sermon explores the concept of teaching, and calls the church to consider how they can best obey this principle in its multi-faceted aspects.

The Mission Mandate

Jesus' instruction to the church is clear - make disciples! It is the over-arching directive for the Church. Techniques to build the Church about in our day. Yet Jesus gives three key truths for how this task is to be accomplished. We are to rest in His authority, trust in His method, and bank on His promise to provide. Becoming a disciple of Jesus is a call to leave everything and enter a life of risk. Yet, ironically, it is the only enterprise Jesus has promised to bless. The goal of this sermon is to help every Christian understand they are a missionary, which necessarily involves an intentional reorientation of their entire life for the purpose of faithful mission.
Worship & Dirt

Jesus speaks a well known parable about seeds and dirt. But in it all was really a message of worship. The word of the kingdom is a call to come and worship the Lord. To come and be saved and washed of our sins. But the hard reality is that though the message is clear and the message is good, it is often lost in the hearts of the hearers. In this evangelistic message Pastor Henry seeks to explain the passage and calls sinners to hear the gospel and come to Jesus for salvation.
