Psalm 115

Not to us, Lord, not to us

but to your name be the glory,

because of your love and faithfulness.

Why do the nations say,

    “Where is their God?”

Our God is in heaven;

    he does whatever pleases him.

But their idols are silver and gold,

    made by human hands.

They have mouths, but cannot speak,

    eyes, but cannot see.

They have ears, but cannot hear,

    noses, but cannot smell.

They have hands, but cannot feel,

    feet, but cannot walk,

nor can they utter a sound with their throats.

Those who make them will be like them,

and so will all who trust in them.

All you Israelites, trust in the Lord—

he is their help and shield.

10

House of Aaron, trust in the Lord—

he is their help and shield.

11

You who fear him, trust in the Lord—

he is their help and shield.

12

The Lord remembers us and will bless us:

He will bless his people Israel,

he will bless the house of Aaron,

13

he will bless those who fear the Lord—

    small and great alike.

14

May the Lord cause you to flourish,

    both you and your children.

15

May you be blessed by the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

16

The highest heavens belong to the Lord,

but the earth he has given to mankind.

17

It is not the dead who praise the Lord,

    those who go down to the place of silence;

18

it is we who extol the Lord,

    both now and forevermore.

Praise the Lord.[a]

11 “Moreover, say to the royal house of Judah, ‘Hear the word of the Lord. 12 This is what the Lord says to you, house of David: “‘Administer justice every morning;     rescue from the hand of the oppressor     the one who has been robbed, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire     because of the evil you have done—     burn with no one to quench it. 13  I am against you, Jerusalem,     you who live above this valley     on the rocky plateau, declares the Lord— you who say, “Who can come against us?     Who can enter our refuge?” 14  I will punish you as your deeds deserve,     declares the Lord. I will kindle a fire in your forests     that will consume everything around you.’”

11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand! 12 Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=galatians+6%3a11-18&version=niv#fen-niv-29203a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule—to[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=galatians+6%3a11-18&version=niv#fen-niv-29205b] the Israel of God. 17 From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

5 It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6 But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them,     a son of man that you care for him? 7  You made them a little[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews+2%3a5-9&version=niv#fen-niv-29985a] lower than the angels;     you crowned them with glory and honor 8      and put everything under their feet.”[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews+2%3a5-9&version=niv#fen-niv-29986b][https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews+2%3a5-9&version=niv#fen-niv-29986c] In putting everything under them,[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews+2%3a5-9&version=niv#fen-niv-29986d] God left nothing that is not subject to them.[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews+2%3a5-9&version=niv#fen-niv-29986e] Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them.[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews+2%3a5-9&version=niv#fen-niv-29986f] 9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
