When God Gets a Hold of Your Life
April 7, 2024 • Jacob Ward • Ephesians 3:1–13
In Ephesians 3:1-13, Paul talks about how God chose him to spread the news about Jesus to the non-Jewish people, also known as Gentiles. Even though he is in jail, Paul sees this as an opportunity to share the incredible message of Jesus' love for everyone. He explains that this was not something people knew about before- it's a new revelation from God. The revelation is that Gentiles are not left out; they are included in God's family through Jesus. Paul emphasizes that this truth is so profound and incredible that even angels are curious about it. He humbly admits that he is not worthy to be the one sharing this news, but he knows it is only because of God's kindness that he can. This passage shows how amazing God's love is and how important it is for everyone to hear about it, no matter where they come from.

In the book of Ephesians, chapter 2, verses 11 to 22, Paul explains how non-Jewish people (Gentiles) were once excluded from God's promises and covenant with Israel. They had no hope of being part of God's family. However, the situation changed when Jesus Christ came into the picture. He broke down the barriers that divided Jews and Gentiles and created peace between them. This means that people from all backgrounds can be part of God's family and share His promises. Through Jesus, we are all connected and built together into a holy temple for God. We are still experiencing audio issues. Audio is fixed 1/4 into the message.

But then it shifts to how amazing God's mercy and love are. Through Jesus, we are saved by God's grace, not our good deeds. The passage stresses that salvation is a gift through believing, not something we can earn. It ends by saying that we are God's masterpiece, created to do good things that He already planned for us to do. We encountered some audio issues this week and thus decided to opt for something different.
