You may have heard some Christian say something like, ‘Being a Christian is not about a religion, it’s about a relationship’. In one sense, that is exactly correct. However, it all depends on your definition of “religion”. It certainly seems all negative potential negative definitions fail here, but what if we discover Jesus had a definition of ‘religion’ that he invites us to embrace? What if that religion was intended to be the product of said relationship? If you have ever said something like, ‘I’m spiritual, not religious’ or ‘I love Jesus, but hate religion’ this message is for you.

This series has focused around a statement that some of us might make which begins like this, “I love Jesus but…” (fill in the blank). However, we are far from the first to wrestle with this question or conflict within. Jesus himself encountered people who shared this conflict openly with him. Join us as we examine a young man, who indeed loved Jesus – but couldn’t let go of his completing interests which also demanded his devotion.

You have probably heard it said by some that ‘it’s not Jesus they have a problem with, it’s His people!’ For many, their experience with ‘his people’ and ‘His Church’ has been pockmarked by certain problems or qualities that simply do not reflect Christ; and yet He commends each and every follower of His to faithfully belong to the Church. So, what do we do with that? How do we both love Christ and love His Church? If you are someone who has been very uncertain about ‘the Church’, this message is for you.

Part 1: Find it Hard to Share My Faith

Have you ever received good news – exciting news and you just couldn’t keep it to yourself? Promotion? Engagement? New car? The list could go on and on. We LOVE to share good news; we can hardly keep it to ourselves! However, oddly enough, when it comes to the greatest life changing experience one could ever have (a decision to believe in and follow Jesus Christ as His disciple) many suddenly fall shy. Sure, we love Jesus, but we have a hard time telling others about Him. If you can relate, this message is for you.
