Focus on Love

Are we focused on using our faith for personal gain or building others up? In Romans 14, the Apostle Paul offers several applications for walking with others according to God's love. Those with strong faith and those with weaker faith are both challenged not to judge one another, but rather works towards building each other up.

Right Living

Growing in Love

"Let love be genuine," says the Apostle Paul at the beginning of this passage from Romans 12. As followers of Christ, we are to be known by our genuine love in the church as well as in the world. Many people, including believers, wait for feelings of love to prompt their actions. But as we see in this passage, genuine loving action often comes before we feel like loving. The God-kind of love, called agape in Greek, is a decision to act on behalf of someone else. Our feelings will follow.

Renewed Thinking

Renewed thinking is part of the Christian life. As the Holy Spirit progressively sanctifies us and forms in our character the image of our Lord Jesus Christ, we become more humble and more attentive to the gifts that we've been given to serve others.

Saved to Serve

Disciples are humble servants fully devoted to following Jesus: we are saved by Him so that by His power we serve like Him! As we see in Romans 12:1-2, surrendered disciples are humble, helpful, and holy. The illustration Paul gives us in these verses to be a "living sacrifice" is a powerful reminder of our relationship to Christ and what a life of worship really looks like.

The All-powerful God of Salvation

Romans chapter 11 shows us both the character and purpose of God through His dealings with the children of Israel, His promise of of mercy, and the way He brought salvation through Jesus to people of all nations.

The Plan of Salvation

In Romans 10, the Apostle Paul explains that salvation is not gained through the law but the Person of Jesus Christ. Paul then explains the pattern of saving faith, and our call to preach the good news of Jesus Christ to an unbelieving world. Our past reveals God's unwavering patience, continually extending the promise of the gospel to us in the present!

Are You Frustrated or Forgiven?

Jesus Christ is a stumbling block for those looking to earn God's favor through religious works, but the Savior for those coming solely on the basis of His mercy. Contrary to our human sensibilities, God shows mercy on whom He chooses. The Apostle Paul explains in Romans 9 that Jesus Christ is the Perfector of our faith, the answer to all messianic Prophecy, and the Person that brought us salvation alone.
