Talk about how Jesus came to save us because of the sin and brokenness of the world. The pain and difficulty in the world around us points to our need for Jesus, and how He rescues all creation!

Christmas is a celebration of what God has done and what He is going to do. How can we celebrate both those things this Christmas? How can your family remember God’s future promises this Christmas?

Advent- Day 24

December 20, 2022 • C.J. Cooper • Isaiah 28:9–22, John 1:1–5, John 1:18, Psalm 33

What is your favorite Christmas decoration? What about the story of Jesus does it represent? Many of our decorations have theological roots, and it can be a ton of fun to look them up and talk about it! Talk about how the ways we celebrate point to the truth of scripture, like Christmas lights and our verse today John 1:4-5. What does it mean for us that Jesus is the light of the world? Jesus is God, and so when He came to earth He brought God’s wisdom and truth  to bring light to our dark world. Talk through how Jesus Being God reveals to us the way we can live in truth and right before God. He literally lights the path for us!

Advent- Day 20

December 16, 2022 • Pastor Brandon • Isaiah 10:5–19, Luke 1:67–80, Psalm 102

What was the last thing you were forgiven for? How about the last person you forgave? Talk about what forgiveness looks like in our lives. Is it hard to do? Easy? Does the thing we are forgiving affect that? Jesus was born to fulfill God’s promise to save us from our sins. How can we celebrate that together this Christmas? Forgiveness and salvation aren’t always something we talk a lot about on Christmas, but it’s what Jesus came to do! Talk through ways your family can honor that part of the Christmas story. It can be something as small as a special ornament or as big as sharing the gospel with others!
