Easter – is the work of Jesus on the cross like the purchasing of a ticket to heaven on behalf of others? Is the resurrection all about getting to heaven, that distant shore? This truncated understanding of the Gospel fails to address the here and now, the pain and suffering of this hour, and the real purpose of the church. New life in Jesus means life eternal but equally so – new life now. Every breath, decision, and day is a fresh and new opportunity to bring heaven to earth. What does all that mean?
