A Study of John's Gospel - Sunday AM Auditorium Class
Week 10: We Will Remember His Resurrection
November 3, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar
What if you worked your entire life and got no paycheck? What was the purpose of your toiling? If someone always told you jokes but never remembered the punchline, would you still appreciate their joyful tale? What if you drove on the highway without a destination; would you ever arrive? Have you ever painted a room with only a brush and no paint? Did the new appearance suit you? Initially, such questions may seem absurd or ridiculous, but have you considered, if Jesus were to come to earth and never be sacrificed, how useless and nonsensical that would be?
Week 9: We Will Think of the Crucifixion
October 27, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar
Jesus asked his disciples to remember his death, and he also asked them to remember his suffering and the shed blood that accomplished the New Covenant. Jesus said,
“Do this in remembrance of me” twice in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.
Week 8: We Will Testify
October 20, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar
Imagine you witnessed Jesus feed the 5000, heal a leper, or open the eyes of a blind man. Imagine seeing Jesus walk on water, calm a boisterous stormy sea, or cause a paralyzed man to walk for the first time. Imagine you witnessed Jesus being tortured to death by crucifixion only to walk free from His grave, resurrected, and walking the earth again. If that isn’t enough, imagine seeing Him ascending into heaven later. Can you fathom how you would feel and how strong your confidence would be in serving our Lord? Can you imagine trying to contain your joy, digest your excitement, and only to decide never to share your experience?
Week 7: We Witness Great Things
October 13, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar
Week 6: We are His Sheep
October 6, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar
John highlights the relationship between Jesus and his followers, using the comparison of a shepherd and his sheep. We can easily see this comparison is unique to help us understand both how much are Shepherd Jesus has invested and cared for us as well as how dependent we are on him for safety protection, and provision.
Week 5: Seizing the Moment
September 29, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar
The Christian has always burst forth, sharing the good news (Gospel) with anyone they had the opportunity. To contain the soul-saving message of salvation through Jesus would be nothing short of selfishness, uncaring, and discompassionate. Imagine knowing a medical scientist held the cure for diabetes and refused to share it. How would you feel about this person? What measures would people take to force this scientist to share his formula to relieve human suffering? In like manner, a Christian could never hold back from revealing God’s plan when an opportunity is presented.
Week 4: The Eyes of the Blind are Opened
September 22, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar • John 9:1–12
Week 3: Valuing and Loving all Mankind
September 15, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar • John 3:16
John teaches us about our Lord Jesus by showing how much He loved all mankind. As we explore the events, John shares how Jesus embraced mankind. We, too, witness His love through His interactions, compassion, and fellowship.
Week 2: Seeing Jesus as God
September 8, 2024 • Jason Schofield , Eric Renegar • John 1:1–3
This Jesus, born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth, and born to parents Joseph and Mary, is the most historically written about, talked about, and referenced individual in history. Was He a man? Was He a prophet? Was He a god, or was He God? The Book of John can open our eyes to see the answers to these questions. Several key passages in the Book of John teach us about Jesus' divinity and how he was/is God. This precedent is established with some of the very first verses.
