In our study of salvation, we have learned about the definition, foundation, and method of justification. Now, we'll look at the timing of justification, or precisely when the sinner becomes justified. As previously highlighted, this event occurs during baptism, involving water immersion. In this lesson, we'll delve deeper into this New Testament teaching.

Week 8 - Redemption

In Christianity, redemption is an act of God in which He pays the price for sin as a ransom, which outrages His holiness. The concept of redemption is central to understanding the meaning of atonement and Jesus's crucifixion. Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood on the cross, to absolve us from the consequences of our sins.

Week 7 - Justification

The doctrine of justification by faith is a cornerstone of our faith, offering assurance and comfort to all who believe. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God has graciously cleared our ledger of sin, declaring us righteous and freeing us from the weight of eternal punishment. This act of divine grace is not a gradual process but an immediate change in our legal standing before God. It is not based on our efforts or righteousness but on Christ’s atoning work.

It must be understood that trusting one’s obedience as a way of retaining salvation is far from being only a Jewish problem. It is still a problem today for Christians who struggle with legalism. So, Paul is also working to defend the cross. Faith + works nullify the cross, Galatians 3.21.
