A Message of Eternal Hope

It is really the greatest news that has ever come into this world. Death is not the end. Today, we will examine the story of Lazarus's resurrection. John 11 occurs only days away from the cross. To escape persecution, Jesus and the disciples had gone across the Jordan. Now, (11:7-16) - Jesus returns to Judea as the disciples object. Why did Jesus' return to Bethany?

I'll Fly Away

March 24, 2024 • Matthew Allen • 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18

This month, we’ve been talking about our spiritual inheritance. In his prayer in Ephesians 1:18-19, Paul prayed that the eyes of our heart will be enlightened so that we come to understand the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints. This inheritance has been given to the Christian. God has made (us) an heir (Galatians 1:7). This fact drives our hope. We know nothing here will last. Everything is temporary and will pass away. So there has to be more. We are all hoping for something better. And it is because of our need for hope that Paul writes what he does in 1 Thessalonians 4. Here, he teaches that our hope is inseparably tied to the return of Jesus.

Seeing This World As It Really Is

It is amazing how we get tied up in the things here and relegate the eternal to secondary status. 2 Peter 3.10 says everything will burn up one day. Do we live like we believe that? Matthew 6.19-21 challenges us to move within a godly, eternal perspective.

Embracing Our Inheritance

March 10, 2024 • Matthew Allen • Ephesians 1:11–14

At the fullness of time, God’s sons and daughters will be part of what is united together in Him—things on heaven and earth. What will happen when all things are brought together? Ephesians 1.11 says we’ll receive our inheritance in full. It’s something so certain that Paul speaks of it in the past tense: We have received an inheritance. God always keeps His promises.
